After receiving my MS in Civil Engineering, I moved to Southern California and landed a good-paying job with growth potential. However, it only took a few months to realize that my passion was not in engineering but was in the field of hospitality focusing on beverage management. After an MS degree in Hotel Management, I was offered a position at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in 1994 and I have been there since. Since 1995, I have been the director of UNLVino, one of the largest food & wine festivals in the country. I am also the Director of our Summer Studies in Europe program. During these five-week programs, I became interested in studying European wines, especially French wines. Among the French wine regions, my favorite was always Bordeaux - it was love at first sight when I arrived there! I am proud to say that I have been visiting Bordeaux once or twice each year since my first trip. I not only sharpen my wine knowledge, but I love and enjoy its fantastic people, the culture, the foods, and the beautiful city of Bordeaux. I have made many friends in Bordeaux and they always make me feel at home anytime I visit! I have been certified by L’Ecole Du Vin De Bordeaux for four consecutive times. During my 26-year teaching career at UNLV, I have conducted numerous Bordeaux wine education sessions and have educated thousands of people in the university and Las Vegas communities besides my students. Cheers, and enjoy a glass of Bordeaux!
